Thai Yoga Massage for Yogis

1 DAY WORKSHOP - The perfect complement for any Yoga practice.

Often referred to as ‘lazy yoga’ Thai massage when done in the traditional Thai style of on the floor work, is the evolution of the Thai Yogic medical system that seamlessly fuses movement with breathe work. Unlike Indian yoga which is often practiced alone, Thai Yoga Massage requires the use of a partner who will be gently placing you into a number of ‘yoga’ positions that follow the Thai Sen lines, or Nadis in yogic and Ayurvedic terms, or meridians in Chinese medicine.

Traditional Thai Yoga Massage concentrates on 10 significant lines called the Sip Sen. The three primary sen lines known as Tri-Se, are Sumana, Ittha, Pingkala develop in the embryo and shortly after all the subtle nerves, chakras and sen lines are formed. These Sen lines move energy into different parts of our body and do this on many levels or 'doshas', as they are known in Ayurveda. They attempt to maintain a balance in the body. A mental, physical, emotional and spiritual balance.

In Traditional Thai Massage, we stretch, palm, thumb, adjust and massage this network of energy, and this will change and move the energy, through different chakras and may unblock areas of tension, not only on a energetic level, but it releases tensions in our muscles and joints, even old traumas embedded into the physical body can be unblocked through Jap Sen.

Why do this unique and amazing workhsop?

Well the holistic benefits list could go on for ever, but here are some of the top ones:

Muscular System and Connective Tissue

  • Improves mobility and flexibility

  • Promotes circulation

  • Improves immune system – ridding of metabolic waste

Circulatory System

  • Increases circulation to localized and general areas.

  • It is known to help reduce blood pressure and lower heart rate.

Immune System

  • Increases lymphatic fluid movement.

  • Helps to ease swelling in legs and arms caused by fluid retention.

Respiratory System

  • Relaxes muscles of respiration, promotes proper breathing

  • Passive stretching adjusts skeletal structure, helping the alignment of rib cage during expansion.

Nervous System

  • Promotes the parasympathetic nervous system – rest and digest.

This modality is an excellent complement to any athlete’s restorative plan by assisting the body to return to a state of homeostasis. After rigorous training, stresses over time can lead to overreaching and overtraining in athletes if not properly managed. Just like training for a sport, one should make rest and recovery a habit. Stretching, yoga, massage are all great examples and are all easy to incorporate into a complete mind-body-spirt based fitness program.

WHY TAKE THIS WORKSHOP?

Before we begin, please take a look at some excellent articles from various gym, trainers and fitness authors about why they think (as well as why we do) why ALL athletes, and fitness clients, need regular Thai Massage as part of their optimised training and wellness routines.
